Insulation is part of a building's thermal envelope, not a product picked off a shelf. These are the four we install and the situations each one tends to suit.
An expanding foam applied directly to the surface, filling irregular cavities and sealing as it insulates. Closed cell and open cell behave differently, so the assembly decides which one suits.
Removal, air sealing and re-insulation of the ceiling plane. On an older house it is usually the work with the largest return, and sealing comes before depth.
Thermal barriers, ignition barriers and protective coatings applied over foam where the assembly requires them. Spray foam insulation is not fireproof in itself — the covering is what does that job.

Nobody rings an insulation contractor about R-values. They ring about a cold room, a heating bill, or ice at the eaves.
Usually one assembly rather than the whole house. The bonus room over the garage is the classic.
A heat problem before it is a roofing problem. Warm air reaches the attic and melts snow that refreezes at the cold eave.
The space below was rarely meant to be heated. Insulating the walls does very little about it.
Air moving through the rim joist, the attic hatch and ceiling penetrations. Insulation alone closes none of them.
Foam plastic generally cannot be left bare against occupied space. A covering is usually required.

Our name is spray foam. Our advice is not. Where fibreglass batts suit a regular framed cavity, that is what we will quote. Where the real problem is a few square metres of air sealing rather than a whole envelope, we will say so — even though it is the smaller invoice.

Preparation is most of a professional spray application. Adjacent surfaces, windows, doors and finished areas are protected, and access and ventilation are dealt with before anything is applied. Afterwards we confirm how long the space needs to be ventilated before it is used again.

Staying inside the county is a deliberate limit rather than a small ambition. It is what lets us reach a property quickly, come back if something needs a second look, and know the local building stock properly — the converted cottages, the century houses, the new subdivisions and the farm buildings each behave differently.
Which town you are in changes what we usually find. The older stock around Orillia wants a careful hand, the snow belt around Midland punishes a marginal roof every winter, and the converted cottages at Wasaga Beach nearly always start with the crawl space.
